Flushing Meadows Corona Park

Flushing Meadows Corona Park is the largest park in the entire Queens, New York. It also the fourth largest park in the whole of New York City. Also known as the Flushing Meadows Park, this public park is located in the northern side of Queens, New York City. According to a previous survey of the surrounding parks, Flushing Meadows Corona Park is believed to be in the size of 1255 acres.

Geologically, the site of the park once formed part of the great Hudson River. It was initially used as grounds for dumping the ashes since it was so far from the developed areas of the modern-day New York City.
Flushing Meadows Corona Park was designed as the site for the New York World’s Fair that was held in 1939/1940. Additionally, the park also hosted the New York World’s Fair that was held in 1964/1965. The pack later fell into despair following the 1964 World fair. However, there are certain improvements that have occurred since the early 1990s and the 2000s. Much of the park’s layout is retained from the festival that was held in 1939.

Flushing Meadows Corona Park has some of the best attractions in the entire world. They include the current venue for the USTA Billie Jean King, America Open tennis tournament as well as the home of the Citi Field or the New York Mets baseball team. The other attractions found here include the New York State Pavilion, the Queen’s Zoo, the Queen’s Theatre in the Park, the Queens Museum of Art, as well as the New York Hall of Science.

The Queens Water Lantern Festival ran on this ground on the 1st of June from 6 to 11 p.m. It is a great experience that allows friends to create one of the most magical memories of life.

At the beginning of 2018, musician Paul Simon stated that he would perform the last bit of his live concerts at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The event was slated for the 22nd of September 2018. The musician had been brought up close to the park’s neighborhood and had frequently visited it.

This year do not miss the World’s Fare that will be held in the park on the 18th and 19th of May.
